Seafood doesn’t have to be expensive or complicated.

We’re from the Midwest—we get it. Fresh seafood isn’t always practical. But that doesn’t mean it’s off the table. We want the seafood ON the table, right?

👉 Frozen fish is one of the most underrated tools for staying consistent.

A bag of tilapia from Costco Wholesale (or any grocery store) can sit in your freezer and save you on the nights when you’re tired, unprepared, and tempted to order out. Honestly though, Costco has really good stuff.

And it makes sense. If you were a seafood wholesaler, wouldn't you give your best products to your biggest customers? Costco has high-quality food.

And that’s really what all of this is about:

👉 Preparation is critical to your success.

👉 Establishing healthy eating habits for your kids critical to their success.

When you have options at home, you make better decisions.

🛒 Ingredients

Base (HCG 2.0 Friendly):

  • 1–2 tilapia fillets (fresh or frozen, thawed)

  • 1 tsp MCT oil

  • 1–2 cups vegetables:

    • Zucchini or squash

    • Asparagus

    • Green beans

    • Bell peppers

  • Sea salt, pepper

Simple Spice Blend (Highly Recommended):

  • Garlic powder

  • Paprika

  • Chili flakes (optional)

  • Lemon juice (game changer, for real)

🧠 Why MCT Oil?

During the HCG 2.0 protocol, we prioritize MCT oil because it’s rapidly absorbed and used for energy, helping support ketosis rather than being stored.

There’s also strong belief that MCTs may help mobilize longer-chain fats—the kind more associated with arterial buildup.

Once you’ve reached your goal weight, you can reintroduce more flavorful oils. But for now, when the goal is weight loss, stick to the MCT oil.

Something else about seafood, after you lose the weight, you want to maintain a 1:1 ration of healthy fats (Omega 3 fats) to bad fats (Omega 6 fats). If you're are unsure about the quality of your fats, here is a good reminder:

Text on maroon background: "If it's from the sea or grows on a tree, it's an Omega 3" with fish, clam, avocado, and peanut emojis. Ideal for HCG diet weight loss.
You see how this works? Your ratio of Omega 3s to Omega 6 fats don't have to be exactly 1:1, but if you have bacon for breakfast, choose tuna for lunch. If you make a habit of doing things right, you're allowed to indulge sometimes.

MCT oil keeps things efficient and clean.

🍳 Instructions

  1. Heat MCT oil in a pan over medium heat

  2. Season tilapia with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika

  3. Place fish in pan and cook 3–4 minutes per side

  4. Squeeze fresh lemon over the top

  5. In a separate pan (or same pan after fish), sauté vegetables until tender

That’s it.

Fast, clean, and better than anything you’d order last-minute.

🌶 Flavor Boost

Pro Tip: Add Sriracha + Lemon: A light drizzle of sriracha with fresh lemon juice adds heat, brightness, and keeps the dish from feeling bland.

Simple upgrades like this are what make clean eating sustainable.

🥗 Add a Simple Side Salad

This is where you can round out the meal and create flexibility for the whole family.

Your version:

  • Mixed greens

  • Balsamic vinegar + MCT oil

Why it works:Clean, light, and aligned with your fat-loss goals.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Family-Friendly Version

This is where we meet them where they are.

For the kids:

  • Cook their fish separately with a little butter

  • Go lighter on spices if needed

👉 If butter is what it takes to get them to eat fish—do it.

Same goes for vegetables.

  • Add butter

  • Add seasoning

  • Make it enjoyable

Once they’re on board, you can always dial it back later.

🥗 Kids’ Salad Version

Let them enjoy it their way:

  • Ranch dressing

  • Shredded cheese

You:

  • Keep yours clean with MCT oil + balsamic

Everyone wins.

💡 A Quick Note on Kids & Nutrition

"Taste is an acquired sense."

Those are Dr. Zach's words from HCG 2.0 - Don't Starve, Eat Smart and Lose: A Modern Adaptation of the Original HCG Diet. It now has over 600 five-star reviews.

You don’t have to force perfection—you just have to create exposure, especially early, when the kids are young.

If butter, ranch, or cheese helps them start eating fish and vegetables, that’s a win.

Because once they’re comfortable with those foods, you can gradually shift toward cleaner versions.

👉 Start where they are. Build from there.
