GLP-1 Diet Meal Plan Day 10: Ground Turkey Lasagna

Before we jump into today's recipe, I want to clear up a common misconception. Many people assume that because I talk so much about ketosis, I believe everyone should avoid carbohydrates forever.

That's simply not true. Ketosis is a tool. An effective one. It helps control hunger, stabilize blood sugar, and improve your body's ability to burn stored fat. But ketosis isn't a lifestyle for most people. Healthy eating is.

The goal has never been to fear food. The goal is to learn which foods support your health and which foods work against it.

That's why you'll see potatoes, fruit, oats, rice, beans, and even whole-grain pasta appear throughout this series. When carbohydrates come from minimally processed, whole-food sources, they can absolutely have a place in a healthy diet.

In fact, if you've never tried a quality whole-grain pasta, you might be surprised. The texture is firmer, the noodles stay more al dente, and many people actually prefer the flavor and consistency over traditional pasta.

Today's recipe is a perfect example. It delivers plenty of protein, vegetables, healthy fats, and a reasonable amount of quality carbohydrates. It's satisfying, family-friendly, and exactly the kind of meal that can help you maintain your results long after the pen is gone.

Carbs are not out of the question. Ketosis is important, but it's not a lifestyle.

A Family-Friendly Meal That Actually Supports Your Goals

One of the biggest challenges facing GLP-1 users is learning how to eat once appetite is no longer the primary issue. The medication helps control the quantity of food. You still have to learn how to manage the quality.

This Ground Turkey Lasagna checks all the boxes. Lean protein from turkey helps support muscle preservation. Spinach adds valuable phytonutrients and fiber. Cottage cheese or ricotta boosts protein while creating the creamy texture everyone expects from a great lasagna. Whole-grain noodles provide a slower-digesting carbohydrate source that can be enjoyed by the entire family.

Most importantly, this is real food.

No powders.

No meal replacements.

No mystery ingredients.

Just simple foods prepared well.

GLP-1 Diet Meal Plan: Ground Turkey Lasagna

Ingredients

  • 1 pound lean ground turkey

  • 1 box whole-grain lasagna noodles

  • 3 cups fresh spinach, chopped

  • 24 ounces marinara sauce

  • 2 cups cottage cheese or ricotta cheese

  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

  • 1 egg

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

  • Salt and pepper to taste

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F.

  2. Cook lasagna noodles according to package directions.

  3. Brown the ground turkey in a large skillet.

  4. Add garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.

  5. Stir in marinara sauce and simmer for 5 minutes.

  6. In a separate bowl, combine cottage cheese (or ricotta), egg, and spinach.

  7. Layer noodles, turkey mixture, cheese mixture, and mozzarella in a 9x13 baking dish.

  8. Repeat layers until ingredients are used.

  9. Top with remaining mozzarella.

  10. Bake for 35-40 minutes until bubbly and golden.

  11. Allow to rest for 10 minutes before serving.

Why This Works for GLP-1 Users

  • High protein supports muscle preservation.

  • Spinach provides fiber and phytonutrients.

  • Whole-grain pasta offers a more nutrient-dense carbohydrate option.

  • Cottage cheese or ricotta increases satiety and protein intake.

  • Family-friendly and meal-prep friendly.

Family Table Strategy

One of the biggest lessons people learn during the HCG 2.0 Maintenance Phase is that healthy eating doesn't require separate meals for everyone in the house. The adults don't need one meal while the kids eat something completely different.

Build meals around quality ingredients.

Protein.

Vegetables.

Healthy fats.

Thoughtful carbohydrate choices.

Then adjust portions based on individual needs.

That's a strategy you can follow for a few weeks, a few months, or the rest of your life.

Dr. Zach's Take

The reality is that hunger isn't the problem. Poor food choices are. GLP-1 medications can help manage appetite, but they don't teach nutrition. That's your job.

Meals included in a GLP-1 Diet Meal Plan, like this Ground Turkey Lasagna, are exactly the types of recipes I want people eating after they complete a round of HCG and eventually transition off GLP-1 medications. Because the ultimate goal isn't ketosis—it's developing sustainable eating habits built around protein, whole foods, and long-term nutritional balance.

The ultimate goal is building a way of eating that you can actually enjoy, share with your family, and sustain for years to come.
