Why can’t you eat broccoli on the HCG diet?

That question is frequently asked. The thing you have to remember regarding the HCG diet is that it was developed by Dr. A.T.W. Simeon back in 1950’s Italy. At that time, broccoli as we know it didn’t exist. There were different variations, one being cauliflower. Cauliflower at the time was called “white broccoli,” and as you know, it is significantly higher in carbs than broccoli. For this reason, it was excluded from Dr. Simeon’s original HCG diet protocol.

Broccoli as we know it today is a hybrid of brussel sprouts and cauliflower and is much lower in carbs and is therefore allowable on the HCG diet.
