HCG diet stalls are a frequent subject of questions that I hear in my office. I personally feel that the best thing to do to prevent stalls is to stay off the scale. For the same reason a stock broker will advise his investors not to view their stock portfolio on a daily basis, I recommend that HCG 2.0 dieters don’t weight themselves on a daily basis. The reason I say this is because weight loss is NEVER consistent from the standpoint of your bathroom scale. The reason – water retention. The is more of a problem for women than men as a result of ovulation and TOM, but it is significant for men as well, particularly during the hot summer months. As a physiological response to extreme heat, the body retains water as a defense mechanism. As a result, the bathroom scale may show a stall in weight loss for a couple of days, despite the fact that body chemistry is actually improving. If you’re in an optimal state of ketosis, as you are with the HCG 2.0 diet protocol, you’re always losing fat mass, regardless of the what bathroom scale is telling you. Trust the protocol and at the end of your 30-40 days, you’ll absolutely see the results.
However… if you’r like most, particularly women, the above just isn’t adequate. So, how do you remedy an HCG diet “stall?” You already know how I feel about the HCG diet apple day. Well what about the Cali Kicker? When this was first mentioned by a patient, I thought it was some sort of Hollywood hangover remedy. After doing a bit of research, it turns out the Cali Kicker is a flashy name for a common detox protocol that has been around for years. I’ve actually used it myself. You may have too.
The basic recipe for the Cali Kicker is below…
8oz warm water
1 Tablespoon lemon juice
1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/2 Stevia pack (optional)
1 Tablespoon of Apple Cider Vinegar (optional)
There you have it, the Cali Kicker. Do I believe the it can remedy a stall on your HCG 2.0 diet protocol? Not so much, but it certainly won’t hurt you like the apple day suggested by Dr. Simeons. Let me say that while I don’t believe the Cali Kicker plays a role in actual weight loss (by weight loss I mean a decrease in fat mass or a conversion of fat mass to lean mass) I do believe that the cayenne pepper may play a role in reducing swelling or water retention. I think this is much more likely than the Cali Kicker actually sparking legitimate weight loss. That being said, a reduction in water weight will show positive results both on your scale and in appearance as well. Additionally, cayenne pepper has wide variety of positive health benefits including anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties, powerful anti-inflammatory properties, it’s said to relieve migraines and it has also been shown to reduce unhealthy cholesterol while boosting healthy cholesterol. And from a weight loss perspective, cayenne is believed to boost metabolism.
So, if you’re experiencing a stall on your HCG diet, give the Cali Kicker a try and experience the benefits of cayenne pepper. Most importantly, trust your HCG 2.o protocol and take comfort in the fact that you’re doing all the right things to improve your health and quality of life, so allow the scale to tip a bit. Best of luck!
