View Dr. Oz’s Comments on HCG Weight Loss

Dr. Oz Cover of First for Women Magazine

In the June 2011 issue of First For Women Magazine, Dr. Oz admits that he was initially a skeptic when he first heard of the amazing results thousands of overweight Americans were getting from the HCG diet. “I recognize that there are some real legitimate folks out there who seem to have success with this. I got curious.” Dr. Oz explained during a recent appearance on on ABC’s Good Morning America. “Is it possible there’s a thread of truth to what’s going on with this HCG diet that might open up a vista of opportunities for us and help the millions of Americans who want to lose weight.”

The HCG diet was originated in the 1940s and the protocol was first published in the 1954 manuscript by Dr. A.T.W. Simeon, Pounds and Inches; A New Approach to Obesity. Despite the protocol’s 60 year existence, most of the overwhelming evidence supporting it is anecdotal. “Sometimes the experience of real people doesn’t agree with the science. And sometimes it’s because the science hasn’t caught up,” said Dr. Oz. Dr. Oz followed with, “when we see people do things that work, we in the medical profession have to pay attention.”
