Are You Happy Because You’re Thin; Or Thin Because You’re Happy?

If you’re yet to begin the diet, I want you to return to this page when you reach your goal weight. If you plan on doing multiple rounds of the HCG 2.0 protocol, return after you complete each round and ask yourself the question above:  Are you happy because you’re thin or thin because you’re happy?  I pose this to all my patients and if you’re like them, you’ll probably respond with the same curious expression. The reason is because there is no right answer. Or, as I like to see it, they’re both right. There is a tremendous connection between the mind, the body, and the spirit – you cannot be right in one, if wrong in another. And while it’s often large, life-changing events that set us OFF course with our health and well-being, such as a break-up or loss of a job, it’s often small events like the simple purchase of this book that can right the ship and set you back ON course. Don’t let this momentum slip away. I tell my pain management patients on a daily basis that only YOU can feel your pain, and only YOU can take the steps necessary to remedy it. Dieting is no different. You’ve already taken the first step, now it’s time to follow through. If you feel your heart beginning to race in anticipation of the challenge ahead, embrace it. Set your start date and type it into your calendar. Alert your family and friends to ensure their support and further commit you, and when the day arrives, just do it. Finally, when you circle back to re-read this paragraph and again ask yourself, “am I happy because I’m thin or thin because I’m happy,” I hope you’ll respond the same as Marci, one of my all-time favorite patients who giddily replied… “I don’t know. I’m just happy!”
