Why is it that most people associate pharmaceutical grade HCG with injections only?
There are probably several answers to that question. First, anyone that has read Dr. Simeon’s manuscript, Pounds and Inches; A New Approach to Obesity, has learned that Dr. Simeon used only HCG injections when treating his patients. Another reason could be that the Homeopathic HCG drops, which are widespread on the internet, have somewhat confused the marketplace so HCG injections have become a way to differentiate the prescription HCG product from the homeopathic HCG product. However, injections are not the only delivery system of HCG, or any bio-identical hormone, for that matter. Hormones are very large molecules. Because of their size, they’re not readily absorbed through the GI, so they’re typically injected subcutaneously. Although injections are the most efficient mechanism for delivery, HCG can be absorbed through the oral cavity using a sublingual tablet that dissolves under the tongue, as well. HCG injections are prescribed in dosages ranging from 175 units to 250 units and close to 100% of that dosage is then absorbed into your system. With the sublingual HCG tablets, studies have shown absorption rates ranging from 45-60%. As a result, pharmacies simply double the dosage of the tablets to accommodate for what is being lost. Simply put, the typical dosage of the HCG sublingual table is 500 units, while the typical dosage of an HCG injection is 200 units, however the amount actually consumed is about equal. So, the big question is do the tablets work? The answer is a definitive YES! Sometimes even more so as is evidence from an email from a patient of one of our practitioners (see below). Additional benefits to the sublingual HCG tablets are listed below…
- The shelf-life of the HCG tablets is 12 months, compared to 60 days for the HCG injections.
- The HCG tablets do not need to be refrigerated.
- HCG tablets are easier to travel with.
- HCG tablets are safer as there in no risk of infection.
- You don’t have to stick yourself everyday.
